Deal-It needed to support different types of deals without making the product harder to use or more expensive to build. Alcohol-related deals introduced additional legal and promotional restrictions, so they could not be handled in exactly the same way as standard deals. The challenge was to introduce the right controls while keeping the experience simple and avoiding unnecessary development complexity.
Techne HQ reviewed the new requirement from both a product and technical perspective before expanding the build. Instead of creating a completely separate flow, we looked at what could be handled within the existing Deal-It structure and added only the controls that were actually needed. This helped keep the product simpler, reduce unnecessary development and protect the client’s budget.

Deal-It was able to support the additional controls required for restricted deal types without significantly increasing product complexity. By refining the requirement through product and technical analysis, Techne HQ helped keep the solution focused while balancing user experience, development effort and budget.
Product Features
Talk to a Technical Partner Before You Build.
Great products start with the right decisions early.
Discuss your idea with Gordon, understand the technical risks, and create a clearer path from concept to market.
Tech stack
Technical decisions should follow the product, not the other way around.
Deal-It combines location-based discovery, live deals, redemption and venue-side promotion tools. Its technical foundation therefore needs to support both the user experience and the business rules behind different types of offers.
For Techne HQ, the technical challenge was not simply adding more functionality.
It was deciding where new logic was necessary and where the existing product architecture could continue to be used.
That approach helped keep additional development focused while avoiding unnecessary complexity.
